Third life of wood
Hommage to wooden houses of Croatian Posavina
Project is a tribute to the traditional rural wooden house of the Sava valley area in Croatia. It is made of the century-old oak of a demolished house, and is imagined as a combination of simple clean lines and very carefully considered proportions. The authentic irregularity of the material, considering its organic origin (the traces that time has left on the wood, like nail holes or the patina deriving from exposure to the weather) gives a rustic and restrained expression to the furniture. Traditional joints are used (such as the so-called German corner), a formal link with the original purpose of the material, and vernacular joinery techniques, like the making of the joints with a hand chisel.
Part of collection was represented at SOLID ACTS – Design from Croatia exhibition and was shown at Milan Design Week 2014.
